I’ll be flying to Bengaluru this week for the VizChitra workshop. You can know more details about it from the video above or and buy tickets here: Chitra Lekha.
I watched Kubera movie today. It’s about crony capitalism with a lot of socio-political references. I felt that the last 20 minutes could have been better. It is a very sincere movie, and it has been a while since I watched such an honest attempt.
The reading of the Kanyasulkam play is going great!
I was pleasantly surprised to read about the work done by Ananda Gajapathi Raju, the Maharaja of Vizianagaram, against the practice of Kanyasulkam (~bride price). He ordered the collection of "data" on the prevalence of this practice in his region. Accordingly, 1034 events of Kanyasulkam marriages were recorded over three years. This included an age breakdown of the age of the girl. Here is an excerpt from the preface of the play.

Long before data-driven governance became a fad, people interested in governance have always collected data in some form or other. You need data to solve the problem at hand. There are many problems we are yet to solve in this country. Hope we have the Census done soon :)

I sat with my brother to get him started on APIs and programming. I also learned to use the Sarvam Translate API with that. Here is the tutorial he wrote: Link
I am learning to tell scrolly tales. I thought I would finish it this week, but it has a steep curve. Here is a very good example of a scrolly tale: Measles scrolly tale
