Sorry for making you feel guilty :)
It was my friend Anudeep’s wedding this week and we had lots of fun from Sangeet to the wedding. His love story is something I want to make a movie someday 😁. There’s my friend Sai Chandra who takes exceptionally good pictures. All our DPs are clicked by him. He did his part terrifically well again. I want to see him as a professional photographer someday.
This was my last week at CivicDataLab (CDL). Over the last two years I worked on two projects
Intelligent Data Solution - Disaster Risk Reduction (IDS-DRR Assam): We tried to make flood management more thoughtful and data driven. I spoke about IDS-DRR last year at IndiaFOSS 3.0
Datafication of Indian court judgments : It was a simple project that I loved working on. It showed me how we can generate evidence from court judgements using basic NLP tools. I spoke about this project at FOSSU meetup in Hyderabad
I’m hesitating to use the word “data-driven” these days. I discovered Samarth Bansal, a freelance journalist, online last week. People actually call him a “data journalist” but he finds that term redundant - because any journalism has to be evidence based. It helped me articulate my hesitation. Any policy, administrative action has to be evidence based. If not, it’s just a bad policy. I want to spend sometime deliberating this. Hoping that would help me choose my next step.
